Measures we’re taking

How we’re ensuring workers know how to keep themselves safe from exposure to COVID-19

  • We are ensuring our procedures are up to date by frequently completing a review the and Hastings Prince Edward Health Unit websites by Red Eagle Family Campground’s Health and Safety Representative.
  • We are using current internal communication systems to provide frequent reminders and updates such as by posting notices in common areas, Red Eagle App notifications, emails, text messages and by verbal reminders during the work day.
  • We will share any new COVID-19 safety information with all employees as soon as possible using one or more of the communication systems mentioned above.
  • Training on all safety procedures will be provided to all employees

How we’re screening for COVID-19

  • All workers will complete a COVID-19 screening checklist prior to starting work either prior to arriving at work or immediately upon arrival at work, paper copies of the screening checklist will be provided and returned by all workers.
  • The screening questions provided by Camping in Ontario will be used. This screening checklist includes information about staying home if workers have symptoms that are new, getting worse or unexplained. A list of symptoms is included on the checklist, it also screens for other risk factors.
  • Additionally, the screening checklist will be made available through the Red Eagle Family Campground App.
  • All workers will receive training on how to download the app and how to access and complete the checklist.
  • All complete screenings will be retained for one month.
  • The screening app advises workers that if they do not pass the screening that they shall not enter the workplace (including outdoor work), must go home to self-isolate immediately and contact their health care provider or Telehealth Ontario (1-866-797-0000) to find out if they need a COVID-19 test and for further instructions.
  • The screening questions and instructions will be posted clearly for all workers to see at the workplace.
  • Workers will be made aware of who their workplace contact is in case the self-assessment, public health or their health care provider suggests they self-isolate, or if they start to experience symptoms at work.

How we’re controlling the risk of transmission in our workplace

Physical distancing and separation

  • Physical distancing is encouraged by all
  • Physical distancing will be maintained by workers during lunch breaks, and when weather permits lunch breaks may be taken outdoors.
  • PPE such as masks and face shields will be made available to workers
  • A face covering such as a mask must be worn by all customers while in the office and store unless they are entitled to an exemption to wear a mask wearing through regulation.
  • A face covering such as a mask must be worn by all workers indoors, if indoors with another individual (if a worker is working by themselves at a workstation alone they may do so without a mask) with the exception of lunch breaks when physical distancing will be maintained.
  • a Plexiglas barrier is installed along the store front counter to maintain separation between workers and customers
  • In store lineups will not be permitted, ground marks will be used as visuals for customers to lineup outside at least 2 metres apart. Masks must be worn in outdoor lineups.
  • Markers are placed on the store floor for customers to maintain physical distancing between other customers at all times


  • Hand sanitizer is available for all workers and customers throughout the campground
  • Tools, equipment and workstations will be assigned to a single user where possible, where this is not practical shared equipment, tools and workstations will be cleaned and disinfected regularly.
  • All workers will have access to soap and water to ensure they can clean their hands frequently and whenever needed.

  • high-touch surfaces in the office and the store will be cleaned and disinfected at least twice a day, during the campground operating season.


  • Air-handling (HVAC) systems in the workplace are maintained, as the risk of COVID-19 transmission is higher in more enclosed and crowded spaces. Additionally, a portable air cleaner will be used in the Red Eagle office, windows and doors will be kept open when possible. HVAC systems will be set to increase the amount of fresh air and reduce re-circulation. Outdoor space will be used as much as possible.

What we will do if there is a potential case, or suspected exposure to, COVID-19 at our workplace

  • exclude the symptomatic person from the workplace
  • ask the worker to take the self-assessment available on
  • ask the worker to follow any recommendations given by the self-assessment tool, including being tested and self-isolating
  • If anyone in the workplace shows symptoms they are to return home and self-isolate immediately
  • If the person is very ill, 911 will be called and the operator will be informed that the individual may have COVID-19
  • Ask the person to contact their doctor or Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000 for further directions about testing and self-isolation.
  • We will contact the Hastings Prince Edward Health Unit for guidance if someone develops symptoms at work or we are told that a workers has
  • We will follow public health directions to ensure proper self-isolation and return-to-work procedures are followed.
  • If any workers may have been exposed to COVID-19 in the workplace they will be informed and provided with information regarding the potential exposure such as date and time and where it took place.
  • If Red Eagle Family Campground is advised that one of the workers has tested positive for COVID-19 due to exposure at work or that a claim has been filed with the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), Red Eagle Family Campground will give written notice to the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development, and the health and safety representative within four days. Additionally, Red Eagle Family Campground will report any occupational acquired illnesses to the WSIB within three days of receiving notification of the illness.

How we’re managing any new risks caused by the changes made to the way we operate our business

  • We will check-in with workers about how they are coping with changes and we will ensure each worker has access to the right skills and support to be able to work safely.

How we’re making sure our plan is working

  • This plan will be regularly reviewed to ensure its efficiency and will be updated as needed
  • workers will be provided a copy of this plan and will be provided with training on how to implement this plan

Covid FAQ’s

  • Can I walk around the campground?
    • Yes, however, campers must obey social distancing rules and gathering laws as mandated by the Province of Ontario at all times.
  • Is the park office open?
    • The office is open by appointment only. Please do not enter the office if you see another customer already inside. Please line up outside of the office and obey all social distancing rules.
    • If you are with a family member please ask them to remain outside, unless it is required that they be present.
    • If you are coming into the office, please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
    • Hand sanitizer will be available in the office.

  • Is the Red Eagle store open?
    • The store is now closed for the season and will reopen in May 2022
